Dark art

Images and Oracles is an occult book much sought after but look at the price and you can guess it is not one often found. But don't Despair a publisher is London reissued this a few years ago (2003) at a reasonable price. The publishers were Fulgur and it is still available.

About this book, does the price reflect a real gem to be sought and bought. For me the answer is yes. Austin Osman Spare is an artist who was totally forgotten. His life and work lost. In Kenneth Grants earlier books the first seeds where sown to resurrect this neglected Genius. This was the first real book to bring the art and magic of Spare to life again. Kenneth Grants books are at times difficult if approached on the literal level. To be blunt they can be an assault on the mind. But this book is not that. It is lucid, well layed out and full of interesting and beautiful images. It takes us into the world of Spare.

The book also works on quite a few levels. It documents Spares Magical life. His art, His ideas and a few interesting stories about his experiences. I love this book. I have the original Muller edition picked up in a London book shop in 1990 for £2, and I recently bought the renewed edition from Fulger. The renewed edition is even better than the original as the images are better reproduced and the paper of better quality. also it doesn't cost $$$$$$$ My only gripe. It's not in colour.(Nor was the Muller original edition).

But if you want a lucid idea on Magick and why it might not all be hocus pocus here Grant is at his very very best. Instead Of Grant trying to shake us out of our dreamless sleep through words he gives us the art and words of Spare to get the dreaming mind active and willing to travel again. But at this price It's too expensive for most people who could use or just love this great book. Instead look for the reissued edition at a reachable price.

GREAT SELLER- HORRIBLE BOOK

GREAT SELLER- HORRIBLE BOOK- needed it for classes. Rating is only 5 stars since I don't want to hurt the rating of the seller who was great to deal with- I highly recommend the seller. Otherwise it would have been less than one star if possible.

The author, Bohr, has no clue and disparages what he doesn't understand as far as the pre-Vat II Thomistic manualists. Here is a great article that explains why Bohr's position is boorish. http://edwardfeser.blogspot.com/2010/03/scholastics-bookshelf-part-iii.html
One questions if Bohr ever read some of the works he criticizes and understood them.You can't really critique something you do not understand. Setting up a strawman to attack and giving it the name of your opponent isn't an intellectual engagement. Its just preening one's vanity and trying to impress others by attacking the reputation of others by refusing to engage in their thought. Aside from that aspect he has no clue on other basic issues of church history and the development of doctrine but that alone is enough to indicate his level of scholarship on the issue of moral theology. Having said that the professor of the class is nice- I'm just not a fan of the fallacious arguments presented in Bohr's book. This is not intended to be a personal attack on the author but only on some of the positions he puts forth in the book which are deficient.

Rediscovery of the riches in Catholic Moral Tradition

The author, rector of Pius X Seminary in Dalton, Pennsylvania, and teacher of Moral Theology at the University of Scranton, intends to give an introduction into Catholic Moral Theology as it presents itself today in relation to the richness of Tradition. He lays fundament not in impersonal laws but in the loving relation of the redeemed person in Christ towards the Holy Trinity and the Body of Christ, the Church. David Bohr pleads for a rediscovery of symbolic consciousness in prayer and worship, and also in theological thinking and research. This also seems to be the best way for an approach to Scripture and Tradition, under the guidance of the Magisterium of the Church. Such moral theology is integrating all the right insights of theological thinkers, whatever theological directions they represent, for: "No one of us totally comprehends the truth, but we can all aid one another in coming to understand it more fully." (Preface, p. 17). The book consists of three main parts: After an analysis of "Beginnings and Background" (pp. 41-78: with "Biblical Foundations" and "Historical Perspectives"), there follows an investigation on "Fundamental Elements" of Moral Theology (pp. 79-234), and it concludes with "Special Questions" (pp. 235-360). Such fundamental elements are a view on "Christian Anthropology: The person 'In Christ'", "Conversion" and "Discipleship: Faith-Response in Love and Hope", "The Law of Christ", "Conscience and Its Formation", and at last, "Virtue, Sin, and the Human Act: Living As a Responsible Person". Special questions are dealt with exemplary and concern "Sexual Ethics", "Bioethics" and "Catholic Social Teaching". In a interesting approach this useful work proves itself as a help for those who begin their studies as "for the expert seeking an overview of the Church's moral teaching" (Foreword, 14).

His eleven titles include Clock Repair Basics, a beginning book; Chime Clock Repair, a text covering the most common chime clocks seen by repairers; Building an American Clock Movement, which illustrates how to make a complete timepiece movement; and Repairing French Pendulum Clocks, covering several types of French clocks. A New Hope

I really did love this book and loved how the characters had grown into themselves. This book picks up right where book 1 leaves off and it flows and you do get to see the depth of the characters and how far they would go to protect each other. Karla discovers she has a Brother and she doesn't know what to think or how to feel but throughout the book her relationship with her Brother develops into a big sister little brother bond and I found myself missing my big brother. Karla finally gets adopted and has her life ahead of her. Her Brother and Sister come to live with her in the States and that makes Karla even happier.
The reasons I only gave it four stars is not because of the lack of story it was because of the few things I struggled it get through. First of I was 15-16 once and I thought my boyfriend at the time was the love of my life and wanted no one else, Karla and Conner's relationship was to intense and I feel is headed for a destruction because of the intensity of it. Second I know that sex is a huge issue with teenagers but I don't want my teenager reading a book that talks about teenagers doing it. I do love the fact that Karla can stand up for herself and can tell Conner how she feels about it, I felt the the only sensible one in this situation is Andrew because he tells Conner that he does not approve of them making that step but he is there for them if happens. The other thing is the relationship between Manuel and Callie, the age difference gets to me because she is 16 and he is 20, there is something wrong with that and I can't believe that her family and friends are okay with it. I really did enjoy this book and minus those few concerns I would recommend this book to anyone.

This book was a little better than the first. I'm glad that Karla found another brother Elliott, she finally ended up adopted and she is working on herself. She has the entire world behind her helping. Her aunt needed to be put in her place and never come to visit. She was just a hateful woman. What I didn't like about this story is Karla & Conner's "I Love You's" were too much. They are young teenagers and that statement was overdone. Callie & Manuel's relationship is too much since she's 16 and he's 20. I did enjoy this book though and am looking forward to reading book 3.

a great and clean read!

A New Hope is the second book in the Second Chance Series by Christina Escue. It will be released on March 28th. I had the privilege of reading this book very recently and I have to say, I like the story line to it and while we see the characters as more like children in the first book, you can definitely tell that they have grown up some in this book since many of them are facing challenges that have went from being accepted when they were younger to now having the challenges of deep relationships and whether to have sex or not since they are so young. This is a clean book so it does not condone teenage sex or anything and I like the outlook that the adoptive dad, Andrew, has on this issue in particular. Andrew tells his daughter's boyfriend, Connor, that he doesn't really approve of it but still wants them to be safe and that Connor can talk to him about whatever should he need to. This book has a few different stories in it though, the most prominent being the appearance of Karla, the adoptive daughter, welcoming her brother, Elliot into the family. After his grandmother dies, he comes to live with Karla and her family. It is a tough adjustment for him. He has dyslexia and has a really hard time reading. It shows his struggles in and out of school. My favorite though has to be the chemistry between Manuel and Callie. Manuel is Karla's brother and Callie is Connor's twin sister. The two of them have a kind of chemistry between them that is there from the moment Manuel shows up in the story, but he irks Callie to no end and she doesn't know what to do with her feelings. This is a good read! One definitely to check out when it is released!

About the Author
Janice Bailey holds degrees from Texas Christian University and the University of Utah and is a popular bilingual speaker and educator. She studied with Goiz, using his astounding method since 2000. Mexico's University of Chapingo granted her a diploma in Medical Biomagnetism and Bioenergetic Medicine, publishing her paper on biomagnetism and leukemia. She presently directs and teaches at the Dynamic Wellness Institute in Mexico

I LOVE THIS BOOK!

The Biomagnetic Pairs are amazing. I predict this bioenergetic basics therapy will becomeTHE health care of the future and this book, the textbook of choice for individuals, libraries, and healthcare institutions.
An admitted novice in the field of self-healing, I was a very disgruntled failure- reject of the medical profession. My health problem never responded to the drugs/treatments I was given by my doctors so I was a prime candidate for trying Bailey's book. And it was a great thing I did for myself!
With my wife and me reading and rereading it, we saw the numerous references in CAPITAL LETTERs to the need for SCANNING the body with magnets. So we ordered the 3 scanning charts from her website, which helped immensely (they are color blow-ups of black-and-white illustrations in the front of the book). What occurred after we located the biomagnetic pairs in me needing correction (the ones causing the short leg phenomenon) and we put the magnets on, was like a miracle. Something doctors failed at corrected itself within a week. My experience makes me a big fan of bioenergetic basics for good!
About the book, its alphabetized list of conditions and corresponding places to put magnets is a great part. Also, 80 or so pages of descriptions and illustrations aided me immensely when we were doing the scanning. I realized the pictures can never be exact because each person's body is unique and that is why we need to scan to find exact locations. Another great feature of the book is the information, divided into short chapters for clear understanding. The several-paged bibliography gives anyone a good starting point to study even more if so desired.
I can see why Bailey calls Bioenergetic Basics an art: the book gives the basic starting point, and we as the readers, can bring it to life. I feel certain that with practice I will catch on to even more subtleties and be a better "energy artist".... To anyone reading this review who has not yet tried this artform of dynamic wellness, I say it's well worth the effort. I am not a genius but am as smart as the next person and with the book I didn't need 6 years of medical school and didn't have to travel to a foreign country to be successful. And the cost of the book is less than what I was paying for a bottle of pills! This book deserves the highest possible 5-STAR Amazon rating.

Opens door to Isaac Goiz Duran's work in English!

Janice Bailey first told me about Goiz's method a few years ago, and gave me a copy of his book El Par Biomagnetico (1999). Those who wonder about possible errors in Bailey's text and magnet point diagrams should read Goiz's original book! Bailey, at the very least, has organized the information in a user-friendly, logical (i.e., the points are listed alphabetically) format (which she couldn't do when she did a straight translation of his book into English (The Biomagnetic Pair, 2002). I helped edit the text part of this book as a favor (I'm more savvy on English grammar than biomagnetism) because I believe there is something of worth in even the basics. I also recognize that few people (even if they are Spanish-speakers) can study directly with Goiz.

I am grateful for a basic knowledge of Goiz's method, for it has helped my family and friends who have been open to alternative therapy. Maybe some would call it "coincidence," but one cousin previously unable to conceive and suffering from uterine cysts became pregnant a few months after trying these basics---and now has 2 children. A friend with equilibrium problems so severe that simply standing up could make him vomit found relief after using Bailey's book to get the scanning process going.

Responding to a few other reviews:
* I think Bailey's title makes clear that these are the "Basics" of bioenergetics, not anywhere near a comprehensive course nor license to become a practitioner.
* Bailey should be applauded for taking the time to self-publish this book to bring knowledge of the findings of Goiz to the English-speaking world. Attacks by other followers of Goiz for making this info available seem rooted more in jealousy than a sincere desire to empower others to study for themselves how to best use bio-energetic/magnetic principles.
* Of course new biomagnetic pairs will be found as time goes on: aren't most books already "old news" or partially obsolete once in print? As far as the point locations go, each individual body is different, so as Bailey says, "ALWAYS SCAN FIRST!" (p. 75), and "to locate exactly the point of greatest polarization of an organ, moving the magnet around on the organ is suggested." (p. 132)
* I think recognizing stress and other causes that can lead to areas of polarity is vital in incorporating magnets into a holistic outlook.
* Knowledge is power, and further study will no doubt take readers with little prior exposure to bioenergetics way past where we were before. Bailey doesn't claim to be the source of bioenergetic info: rather, she opens the door to the Biomagnetic Pairs of Goiz, and invites us to enter and learn for ourselves. I'm glad she opened the door to me.

BIOENERGETIC BASICS PAR BIOMAGNETO

Hi, since I posted my opinion of this book in 2011, I went to Morelia to Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolas de Hidalgo Facultad de Quimica Farmacobiologia, who has a place for investigations for the Medical Biomagnetism in the State of Morelia and study AGAIN the Par Biomagneto with Dr. Goiz in order for me to have a DIPLOMADO . I spend three weeks, more than 120 hours of study with Dr. Goiz, did my tesis , got my Diploma , spend over 6.000.oo thousand dollars in Hotels, food studies, etc AND......... the same information that I got the first time with Jose Cruz 2010, on line with Dr. Rolando Bravo en 2009, was at times more helpful that Dr. Goiz,s information. Janice's Bailey book, convey the information that people need to know not only to treat thenself or others. The rest is just pure business . Also I need to acknowledge the discover of this method to Dr. Goiz, but doesn't necessary have to be himself the best teacher. And Still THIS IS THE ONLY RELATIVE GOOD BOOK WRITTEN IN ENGLISH for beginners .. the rest is up to the therapist himself to discover.
